Plenty Gorge Park
Bundoora/ Sassafara, VIC
SITE
Plenty Gorge Park offers valuable natural, cultural and recreational experiences only 20 km north of Melbourne.
The Plenty River that winds through the park is the meeting point of two distinct bioregions: the relatively flat Victorian Volcanic Plains to the west, and the hills and valleys of the Highlands (Southern Falls) to the east.
This has led to dramatic landforms throughout the gorge popular for nature-based recreation. This meeting of bioregions also means Plenty Gorge Park is home for a diverse range of flora and fauna species, many of state and national significance.
This biodiversity makes Plenty Gorge Park the most species rich area in the Greater Melbourne region.
